This is my proposal for a new redesigned pier at the end of Broadway in Downtown San Diego. The new pier will be used as a loading /unloading cruise dock and also a public space. This project proposes a way to allow the two programs to distinguish each other to increase efficiency and inform the visitors about the public space vs. the dock area. The north half of the pier raises six feet over the other half of the slab, this allows an easier loading/unloading of the dock. A system of very long ramps runs along the enclosed dock area, their subtle slope reaches the dock and provides a connection between floors and programs.
