House ex Maxina

In the core of Belgrade city centre in Cika Ljubina street, almost next to Republic square, project called house ex maxina took place. Before it, on that location was an old building that dated from 1924. Idea was to create a spacial experience in the centre of the city that is going to provide different levels of programs. Creating the formal experience was the last thing that was done. The analysis first started between two factors:

The first one was spacial that was divided to one that connect and the one that attract users.
The second factor are users, they are divided in five categories by number of individuals and groups also in the combination of those two. Diferent combination of users give as a posibility to make a choice of which category of users is going to visit which program. When we determine which programs are most visited they go trough the filter of spacial inputs, by meaning of that we give them a character of attracting or connecting spaces. Determing the position of spaces and programs that connect and those that attract, spatial diagram is created.

The unexpected intervention in this project is form. Main category of creating the spatial diagram are undefined because they are based on the assumption, also the spatial category is based on undefined term that can mean more than attraction or connection. That is the way the form took special place. How to formaly define something that is undefined. There is no column, there is no wall or floor. Project looks like fluid that is melting over the imaginary space (programs). Space is free. Form is free.
