Third Year: Bloomingdale Montessori Project

The main driving concept of the project took the sensory focus and development of the Montessori Program and organized the program to progress and refine as it grew vertically.  The resulting space was formed by pentagonal rooms stacked upon each other, with an emphasis on concrete design and construction.  The interior spaces are connected through shared vertical connections between floors.  While the Montessori School presents a facade that literally reflected the surrounding community through the use of steel facade panels, it also encompassed an interior courtyard that visually embraced the nature presented by the neighboring Bloomingdale Trail.
