First Year Color Project

This project was to find a way to create an installation that would reflect two words drawn from a hat: dry and reticent.  There is more than one meaning to each word, and we explored a deeper definition that would help tie our installation to the site of our picking: the North Core of Crown Hall in Chicago.  In this exploration, we utilized the triangle as a reference to the conservative aspect of the 'reticent' definition, and with the gradient, the installation faded into its northern-lit surroundings, representing the definition of 'dry': lacking in mellowness or warmth.  Through the design process we created several color swatches and looked at the different angles through which these shapes would be viewed, and refined our design to this final product.
