A 3D laser scanner built with Arduino and Processing, plus scans of interior spaces, (2011).

I built a 360-degree, 3D laser scanner by writing and designing original software in Arduino and Processing. Though I continue to adjust this system’s software and hardware to improve its accuracy, the scanner in its current state produces intelligible readings of spaces. Ultimately, I’m interested in the questions this tool raises with regard to our notions of space, the “realness” of digital space, and the role of imagination in perceiving spaces, both real and computed.
