Animo Westside Middle School

Animo Westside Middle School is an adaptive re-use project; converting an existing office building into a charter school.  The new use and design changed the main building circulation from interior to exterior.  The new exterior circulation structure wraps the entire existing brick facade and distinguishes itself from the old by utilizing metal panels and exposed steel structure.  This particular project required a Change of Use Permit which comprised of a package containing rendered elevations and perspectives, site plan, landscape plan, and floor plans.  This project primarily focused on the structural implications and demands of our proposed program.  Our large classroom sizes were achieved by assigning specified demolished portions of the two parallel existing load bearing walls to create a jogged bearing wall condition running the length of the building.
