This project is a new way to provide students an own place within multifunctional spaces, galleries for expositions, cafs, library… into a building called Students' House. A Hall Residence was also part of this brief.
The place is in a pine forest at the end of the university campus in Madrid.
As long as you go up the slopping hill Students' house is poised into a flat table of land taking dramatic views of skyline of Madrid.
Two perpendicular rectangular buildings articulated by a gallery on second floor conforms this development. Longitudinal one is glazed north façade to achieve the best working-light in all multifunctional spaces in the end of this building is located the library. Two storeys conform it, an upper one is destinated to be study place of the bibliotheque and the caf. This one connects with perpendicular building.
The theatre and exposition places are located on perpendicular building, and it can be transformed into a concert place if sometime is needed. Multifunctional spaces and bibliotheque are located in lower floor.
Students' residence is hidden between trees, in a further space. Its longitudinal shape change as it goes up by the slope. Bedrooms are directly connected with nature. Common spaces are at the entry but also between bedrooms, creating by this more spaces to be in a group of people.
The materials chosen to design the whole project have been stainless steel frames for columns and blank concrete on facades.
This project tries to create the best space for students, a place where students can call it their “own place”.
