Vertical Zoo

Movement is the driving force of the zoo. Everything that is stationary or horizontally moving within a traditional zoo is translated into vertical tubes when introduced within the concrete jungle.  Vertical movement and back of house staging becomes an experience, rather than a mere necessity.  The articulation of the habitats and landscapes is generated by the natural movement of the animals and their use of space.  This ribbon, when translated vertically, creates porosity and allows for unique visual experiences.  The integration of these diverse strategies rewrites the narrative of the zoo.
