This project follows Kevin Lynch's framework of The Image of the City and applies it to a selected area of London, England with diagrammatic spatial adjustments proposed to strengthen the image ability of that area. The selected area is Notting Hill in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in West London. The analytical efforts are focused on the pedestrian scale experience of the city, though Lynch's vocabulary has perhaps as much validity at vehicular speed and scale, as well as at other scales of environmental design. The intention is to develop a better understanding of the historical patterns of development in the area as well as diagrammatically presenting the spatial structure of the area.
