Module: Void

Our studio focused on the building system for designing the skyscraper in Chicago. We as a student focused on one of the systems they want to use for their design. I picked natural ventilation and natural light. Building shape was generated according to the wind flow of the surrounding area and the facade has a full diamond mullion grid and glass for better natural light in the space. The wind can flow through the building void, so it doesn’t disturb the natural wind flow but can have a chance to have natural ventilation not only in the outer space but also the inner space.

The design has five modular volumes, every volume is rotated for not to block all-season winds. Thus, natural ventilation in the building is not only for the specific season.
