The Visitor and the Worker

ARPL 202

Spring 2014

Critic: Greg Upwall

This brewery is about integrating the visitor and the worker.  These two ideas require different types of spaces, and as a result they often have difficulty coinciding with each other.  However, that is not to say they cannot communicate - in this brewery, the two spaces are reconciled by the production.  The product, beer, is the link between the visitor and the worker, and is the reason for the brewery’s existence.  This link takes the form of a bridge, and allows the visitor to observe the brewing process and allows the workers a way to oversee the entire production area.  Beer is the common denominator for both the visitor and the worker.
