A Garden in Seclusion

ARPL 201

Autumn 2013

Critic: Jay Kabriel

The Garden in Seclusion is designed be a safe haven within the city. There are three main spaces: the plaza, the cafe, and the garden.  The plaza acts as public zone that allows people to relax and observe the street.  The cafe brings activity to the plaza and garden without disturbing the sense of peace, and creates views of the Garden without the need to be outside.  The plaza is connected to the garden by a fountain, which transforms into greenery within the colonnade.  Like a forest within the city, the space becomes a garden in seclusion.
