Fold Chair

Using a previous project as inspiration, I designed a chair based off the folds of origami. The qualities of origami that I gravitated towards were the thinness of paper and the strength that it acquires from the process of folding. The chair consists of 4 separate panels that are independent yet integrated, which emphasizes its relationship to the human body and origami.

Materials: Molded wood veneer, 5/8" steel tubes, 1/4' steel plates, 1/4" neoprene rubber

Construction: The 4 panels attach to the steel frame at two steel, triangular plates per panel. The wood is fastened to the welded steel frame, allowing for transportation / adjustments. 1/4" neoprene rubber gaskets between the two materials, wood and steel.
