Ragdale Ring Project Competition.
A kind of an unfinished tunnel, a quarter of a silk nest or a pocket are useful as images of this light bamboo fabric structure, that also shapes the light rain and sun shelter for Ragdale’s garden. A structure of changing permeability that dissolves like a sfumato towards the open natural space, an already convenient spot to celebrate artistic events.
With close to 1900sq.ft., the intervention plot area can accommodate up to 150 seating people (under the shelter) at ease, allowing different space configurations, from the most conventional one with a front stage, to the most classic one with the stage surrounded by the spectators, or creating more contemporary configurations where the boundaries between spectator and artist nearly disappear. The structure’s permeability, that defines but not encloses, allows at all moment the flexibility of use, the creativity and improvisation in the organization of events.
