The Master of Urban Design (MUD) is a multidisciplinary program in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. The curriculum draws from the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, law, civil engineering, planning, public programs, real estate development, and the first School of Sustainability in the United States. The program leverages its local conditions (rapidly urbanizing metropolis, arid climate, New American University) toward the development of responsible global initiatives and innovative design strategies for urban environments. The curriculum is built around the analysis and understanding of contemporary urban conditions specific to rapidly urbanizing and arid regions of the world.
