Robert Kown

Nashville, TN, US

About

I recently received my Master of Architecture from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and am looking to begin my architectural internship. My focus is on architecture and urban design.

My experience prior to graduate school was in the public relations industry representing design clients in New York City. This exposure to the design industry has given me a unique perspective on the role architecture plays in our society as well as an appreciation for the kind of multidisciplinary approach that is so important to what architects deal with today.

A sample of my academic design work can be found at http://www.robertkown.com.

Within the website, a number of my academic works are highlighted, including my thesis entitled: Inhabiting the Periphery, A Dialogue Between Individual and Site. This thesis is sited on New York's East River waterfront and deals with a number of issues concerning reclaimed civic space, sustainable urban living and, most importantly, design's ability to inform culture.
