I am an Interior Designer (Master's degree) with a background in Architecture (Bachelor's degree). Being in different firms made me conscious of my responsibility toward the space that I am designing for people to experience or live in. I realized that interior design is the human-centered approach to the problem solution whereas architecture is more about the outside boundary and my main interest/focus is on human experience within each space. I believe in the idea that Interior design is the ART and science of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space. The DÉJÀ healthcare clinic’s design is simply about the patients, their beloved ones, and the caregiver’s wellbeing within the space. The aim is firstly an area where a feeling of home-fullness can be reached through the understanding of an individual, appealing to multiple generations without any gender limitation to make sure the visitors feel welcomed and comfortable. This satisfaction can result in having patients back in this clinic again or they might feel they have been there before (Déjà vu) which would also speed up the healing process. Secondly, providing an environment that creates a lasting impact by involving the user’s emotional sense in their experience by engaging them unconsciously into space. The HIPPA, WELL, ADA standards, etc. are considered to create a better overall design as well.
IDECF Graduate Scholarship, Scholarship
This grant, distributed through the IDEC Foundation, provides travel funding to interior design graduate students who desire to become interior design educators to participate in the IDEC Annual Conference. Each scholarship will equal the cost of graduate student registration for the Annual IDEC Conference in 2021. The Foundation awarded up to $3,000 to the graduate students selected this year.
