DOE Sun Wall Competition, Honorable Mention
A national design competition for a well-designed and practical “sun-wall” billed as the largest federal government building solar energy system in the world.
The Competition, sponsored by American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE), called for a sun-wall for the south wall of DOE’s headquarters in Washington, DC. It was expected that a photovoltaic system could generate as much as 200 peak kilowatts of electricity.
The winning team was awarded a $20,000 cash prize.
