Tariq Mahmood is currently working with BIM and Mechanical Systems in a New York Office. He has been the leader/key participant on the coordination team for a significant number of projects throughout NYC. Researching workflows to maximize efficiency in 3D design to construction has been one of his main prerogatives.
While earning a B.Arch Degree from NYIT, Tariq has traveled to Egypt and Mexico City for Thesis, History and Design Studios. ‘Thirsty City – A Sustainable Water Infrastructure for Mexico City’ was praised by critiques noted architect Javier Sanchez (JSA), Manuel Garza (et al.) and Gabriel Fuentes (DA l S). In Egypt, Tariq’s designs we’re recognized by noted Egyptian Architect Shahira Fahmy. With two different continents to call home and all the places analyzed while traveling, the cultures of other countries have shaped Tariq’s view of the built environment and its connection to humanity and the ecology. He actively participated in guest lectures, taught workshops, contributed as a Teacher’s Assistant and was a guest critique for various studios.
Tariq came to the U.S. in 1996 at the age of 6. After growing up in Urban Jamaica Queens, Tariq moved to Philadelphia for two years before returning to New York. He is LEED GA accredited and is actively pursuing his Professional Licensing.
