Hotel Triton, San Francisco

For Hotel Triton, NICOLEHOLLIS updated the guestrooms with a fresh and playful take on San Francisco iconography. The green color palette evokes the San Francisco bay as well as the China Town Gate right next door. New Edwardian wall paneling feels original to the building. A tufted wing back chair is covered in a custom, large-scale William Morris inspired print. A Chinese red dragon stencil tagged with spray-paint (referencing San Francisco rich street art culture) appears in unexpected pops throughout the room. Jack Kerouac's original draft of On the Road (written frantically without paragraphs on a continuous scroll) has been unrolled as a custom wall covering encircling the room. Other highlights include; an irreverently exaggerated headboard lacquered in a high-gloss yellow, a typical wicker basket-weave pendant reinterpreted in black rubber and bedside sconces made from industrial piping. Finally, magnetic chalkboard surfaces at the desk and entry create a space for Triton’s loyal guest following to express their own views on San Francisco.
