In June this year UNStudio will launch the new organisation of its practice as an open-source knowledge-based practice operating projects around four specialised Knowledge Platforms.
As part of the reorganisation of the studio a new interactive online knowledge platform will be launched, aimed at facilitating the open exchange of knowledge, with the ultimate goal of introducing and encouraging the expansion from a collaborative to a co-creative working model for architecture.

Great stuff. Really interested to see how much architects are willing and able to share on such a platform. It's not clear to me exactly how it works yet for people outside of the specific projects.
Almost certain this is nothing more than a publicity stunt.
Fence number one: NDA's will restrict various parts of a project from being released.
Secondly, unless Ben and Caroline have a financial stockpile accruing astronomical amounts of interest, UNStudio can't economically sustain themselves for long--they're essentially offering their architectural services for free if they really follow through with their plan of transparency.
Behind this fog of feel-good rhetoric and abuse of the phrase "open-source", there's the reality that start-ups are made to monetize. Most hope to get bought by Google, Microsoft, or Facebook (see Instagram--my money's on Pinterest being next).
My sense is UNStudio is going to do the same things they've been doing. They're just going to release a couple more images or rough process material.
Ouch thundeclap.
But i like your angle, ....perhaps a press release straight from the marketing dept., and not actually from some altruistic place, deep within Ben's heart ?
I guess we shall see if they follow through or not. Then we can judge.
"Open to external collaborators" - that's the operative phrase.
Its okay if UN studio does and "Open" concept and share all of their diagrams. They are not useful to anyone except for students anyways....
Of course some architects don't look at diagrams. Lameism rules the day when your churning stock architecture.
