China has introduced "mobile execution vehicles," or vans in which lethal injections are performed. "Makers of death vans say they save money for poor localities that would otherwise have to pay to construct execution facilities in prisons or court buildings. The vans ensure that prisoners sentenced to death can be executed locally, closer to communities where they broke the law." Further, each execution is "recorded on video and audio that is played live to local law enforcement authorities." USA Today.

that's eerie. didn't the nazis start out with death vans using the vehicle's exhaust to kill the victims inside.
Did they? Flexible urbanism meets the death sentence. Or: death by design.
And, yes, very creepy. That van - not exactly a place to die in, thank you.
I agree. I think its entirely a bad idea to make executions more easy and moblie. The same goes for military technology in my mind.
I just threw this up on BLDGBLOG if it interests anyone... The mobile infrastructure of punishment.
here you go...gassing vans
Those are nasty-looking, indeed. And a similar infrastructural movement seems to have occurred: from firing squads to mobile death vans. China redux.
I saw this on tv the other night. The story was centered around the illegal organ transplant industry. Doctors perform transplants in the vans, immed. following injection. Keeps the kidneys fresh...
whats wrong with the fucking chinese? (excuse my expletives)
