Perhaps the biggest risk is that the appeal of natural-sounding solutions can delude us into thinking we’re taking more meaningful action than we really are. It “invites people to view tree planting as a substitute” for the sweeping changes required to prevent greenhouse-gas emissions from reaching the atmosphere in the first place, says Jane Flegal, a member of the adjunct faculty at Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society. — MIT Technology Review
James Temple, writing in the MIT Technology Review outlines the argument against viewing tree-planting as a climate crisis silver bullet. While planting trees might seem like a quick and easy way of helping to abate the climate crisis, Temple explains, increasingly, researchers are finding that estimates touting the potential tree-planting efforts might have for absorbing and sequestering carbon are likely overstated. "We can’t rely on trees as a stand-in for the separate monumental task of cutting emissions from our energy, transportation, and agricultural systems," Temple argues.
As the uptick in forest fires worldwide—from California to the Amazon to Australia— show, trees can quickly go up in smoke. Arizona State University adjunct faculty Jane Flegal tells the MIT Technology Review that “just shifting the stock of CO2 from the atmosphere to the land biosphere is not a permanent sequestration of emissions. Carbon sinks can become carbon sources very quickly.”

these climate change hacks are a part of the problem. If the plan doesn’t involve massive socialism, it’s not worth doing?
These people should listen to themselves talk. If we cant plant a bunch of trees we probably can’t build a 100% renewable society either. A smarter scientist would see one as connected to the other
"A smarter scientist would see one as connected to the other "
This is essentially the thesis of the piece you're criticizing. Did you even read it?
All of the climate hysteria Democrat candidates sure use a lot of chartered jet aircraft. Hillary retired the trophy is 2016, though. Everyone else is playing for second place now.
Of course, one person does it, out of safety - from cave dwellers like you - but go on with your false equivalency.

I love the old fart Sanders saying climate change is an 'exential threat to the planet' while he flys corporate jets every chance he gets. Kind of like Al Gore. "Let the 'little people' sacrifice. We are the chosen."

oops
I love how I called you out for a dumb comment & then you just made the exact same comment about a different person, neither of whom have anything to do with the article.
Please explain the above using your chosen candidate. As usual, we will wait.
While you're at it please provide an alternative means of transportation that is more efficient time and carbon-wise.
Who makes the call as to whose time is important and whose time isn't, the carbon police (who are themselves flying around on top-of-the line corporate jets at every opportunity? It's for the children!
Please explain, at length and with sources, how you know who anyone on this forum will vote for, who you will vote for, and how your passive aggressive faux-Socratic bullshit isn't just a waste of time for anyone to read.
Or don't. Saying nothing is an option I'd highly encourage.
I like providing shovels to folks who tend to bury themselves in shit.
