Denise Scott Brown and Robert Venturi awarded the 2016 AIA Gold Medal
Denise Scott Brown, along with her husband Robert Venturi, won the 2016 AIA Gold Medal — and rightfully so! Snubbed of the 1991 Pritzker Prize when Venturi was named as the only laureate, Scott Brown is the second female recipient of the Gold Medal.
LMN Architects wins 2016 AIA Architecture Firm Award; Topaz Medallion awarded to Douglas S. Kelbaugh
In a sleuth of announcements, the AIA revealed that Seattle-based LMN Architects scooped up the coveted Architecture Firm Award, considered to be the AIA's highest honor for an architecture practice. The AIA also officially announced the winners of the Topaz Medallion, the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award, and the Kemper Award.
A closer look at the Flint House, the 2015 RIBA House of the Year
Built atop a flint-surfaced landscape in Buckinghamshire, the Skene Catling De La Peña-designed Flint House won the 2015 RIBA House of the Year award. Formerly called the Manser Medal, the coveted House of the Year award still carries the same purpose of distinguishing the year's most innovative house designed by a UK-based architect.
Tadao Ando and Elyn Zimmerman win 2016 Isamu Noguchi Award
The Noguchi Museum announced Tadao Ando and artist Elyn Zimmerman as the 2016 Isamu Noguchi Award recipients. Established in 2014, the award honors individuals whose work embodies the qualities of influential landscape architect and artist Isamu Noguchi.
SANAA wins over Snøhetta to redesign National Gallery + Ludwig Museum in Budapest
Back in April, SANAA and Snøhetta had a first-place tie out of a star-studded shortlist to design the new National Gallery + Ludwig Museum, as part of an ambitious multi-structure project to revamp Budapest's City Park. After further evaluation from the jury, SANAA ultimately won the commission.
Peter Palumbo, Zaha Hadid, Rodolphe Khoury among jurors for Beirut art museum competition
The Association for the Promotion and Exhibition of the Arts in Lebanon (APEAL) launched an RFQ for a new modern and contemporary art museum in Beirut, Lebanon, which is currently slated for opening in 2020.
2015 Laka Competition winners interpret “Architecture that Reacts”
Laka Architektura's first competition was a success! Designers worldwide submitted their interpretations of "Architecture that Reacts". The theme intends to spark more interest in the investigation of adaptive socially engaged architecture, for now and the future.

Working as an architectural photographer for over 30 years, Wayne Thom finally has his own exhibition titled, "Matter, Light, and Form: Architectural Photographs of Wayne Thom, 1968-2003", currently at L.A.'s WUHO Gallery until December 20.
