"The BMOCA Extension project was led by Marcel de Lange in correspondence with the executive director David Dadone. My project partner Nick Amirault and I sought to influence the contemporary artists’ work by offering varying gallery spaces. The theme of the design was new meets old. Centralized around a single staircase that reached all six tiers of the new building, the gallery procession encouraged moving back and forth from the existing brick and wood building into the new extruded aluminum, glass, steel, and concrete extension. Each gallery had different qualities to produce a greater variety of work."
• Restructured the existing historic building and designed a 10,000ft2 extension from the museum. • Communicated with the client on the programmatic needs and centered the resulting plan around a single staircase that joins the new and old buildings together.
• Gave each gallery space a unique setting to promote a higher variety of artwork on the advisement by Brad Cloepfil.
• Awarded best circulation.
