Hello. I'm a student majoring architecture design but would like to pursue a career in architectural conservation in the future. Could anyone recommend some good books about materials, structure and technologies in conservation? And may I ask what could be good chioces of institutions in Europe to get involve in the field of cultural heritage conservation? Thanks in advance!
-McAlester, Virginia & McAlester, Lee. A Field Guide to American Houses -Luxton, Donald. Building the West: The Early Architects of British Columbia. Vancouver, Talonbooks, 2nd ed. 2007 -Building Resilience: Practical Guidelines for the Sustainable Rehabilitation of Buildings in Canada
There's also the UNESCO world heritage sites to check, but honestly just take a class or two at your university on heritage/conservation and an advanced material class.

Thank you! May I ask if you may know any other schools in Europe, where the tuition fees would be much lower than those in North America? I only know the master program of RLICC in KU Leuven has a good reputation in cultural heritage and would like to take the courses next year when the pandemic situation may be better controlled. Anyway, thank you very much for the useful website!

Clemson University has architecture programs in Genoa, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain, The profs teaching those courses should know what the preservation situation is in Europe. The profs at Leaven should know also. Maybe you could visit whichever is closest - or maybe all three when the virus situation clears up!
