I was wondering what architectural non-profit organizations are out there that are based in Canada/USA but are involved in local and international initiatives? I'd love to join one or two to volunteer some of my time and skills.

There was Architecture for Humanity, but they closed in 2015. Local chapters regrouped as Open Architecture Collaborative as b3tadine mentioned.
There are local firms that are non-profit and deal with social architecture. I've heard about Inscape Publico in DC.
