As a newcomer to this community, I'd love your two cents on what you believe are the most influential trends and new industry standards for this year (in the United States). I know this question is vague, but that's what I was going for - creativity in response would be amazing. Trends can include project types, materials, finishes, software applications, type of firms young/old architects want to work for, etc. Same approach for industry standards.

The biggest trend so far is asking archinect to do your homework for you.

I guess the next trend is to actually get the architect to do it

Trends are a terrible thing. Flavor of the week leads to dated buildings that get torn down in 20 years.

Another growing trend is to not follow any trends and build dated buildings from the start so you don't even have to wait 20 years and start swinging that wrecking ball at the opening ceremony.

I don't follow trends, I set them. Pay more attention.
