Long story short I lost all my files in my computer & external hard drive including all the 3d digital model files of sketchup, Rhino 3D and Revit which their file extensions are .skp, .3dm, .rvt respectively. I used a data recovery program called EaseUS which recovered every type of common files (.doc, .pdf, .jpg, .psd, .dwg and so forth) expect for those modelling files which I guess is less common. Do you know any software I can use to recover those files or any other way to retrieve it? I know for sure those files are still in my external hard drive because I still have hundred of gb of space left and I didn't overwrite anything. Please help.

has anyone suggested drilling it, to expose the headphone jack? This should help with access to your missing files.

That's very unfortunate. You can download a few more utilities here and here,
I would go straight to a data recovery service. Look for those whith a good reputation. They have specialised tools, the experts, and can recover a whole lot more data than any single utility.
As a general rule, a software-based data loss would cost you ≈ $100 - $200 for a drive between 1 - 2 Tb. Hardware-based data losses require the use of clean room facilities and more advanced equipment, so they may charge ≈ $500.
It's expensive, but well worth the money.

David,
can I borrow your time machine? 52 years making cd's is quite a feat!

52 year-old backup drives?
Oh my... you must have quite the collection of outdated equipment available just in case you need to fire-up those 5-1/2 floppies and punch cards.

It’s great to see you saying that you didn’t overwrite the file. You are right, the lost files are recoverable as long as they are not overwritten. AnyRecover, easeUS is software that can recover external hard drives. However, AnyRecover does a better job, it provides a hard drive recovery mode that easeUS does not have.
