Surreal Amalgamations

 

Conceptually, these surreal images refer to dreams I have had where various aspects of my art and architecture appeared to merge with my body into an amalgamation of extreme complexity. I don’t apply any specific meaning to these dreams but I am glad that they have inspired me to create these images.

My goal as an artist is now and has always been to invent new forms of art. In this case, I used the inspiration of my dreams to create what I feel are truly original images.

Surreal Amalgamations is a series of photo-based images that merge manipulated photos of myself, with manipulated photos of some of my sculptures, and architectural models.

Photos were taken of my face, arms, and legs. These images were placed into my computer where they were isolated from their backgrounds. The same was done with the photos of some of my sculptures, and architectural models.

The images of my sculptures and architectural models were manipulated in various ways with my computer through processes like warping, layering, and joining parts together in ways that develop unexpected formations. Those formations were then merged with various manipulated images of my face, arms, and legs.
