Preparing For The Pandemics Of The Future

In a Time of Isolation and Separation, Preparing For The Pandemics Of The Future

is a series of sculptures that fantasize about ways in which we may have to be living in the future as long as viruses like Corona are killing us. The series is not meant to suggest practical solutions to problems like maintaining social distancing, isolation, or quarantine. Instead, they are purposely designed to present extreme notions of how humans could theoretically merge with technologies designed to keep them safe in times of future pandemics.

The person in the first sculpture is fitted with a special isolation suit equipped with various high-powered antivirus guards, along with virtual reality headsets to keep her entertained. The two people in the next sculpture have merges with a social distancing machine that keeps them physically separated, and at the same time allows them to communicate through special virtual reality equipment.

The next person in the sculpture has merged with another machine that supplies her with fresh filtered air as she relaxes and watches a special video screen. The last person in the series of sculptures has merged with a machine that allows her to safely sleep, while promoting pleasant dreams
