According to a statement from the competition program, the challenge was to strengthen revitalization in Chicago's West Garfield Park and North Lawndale neighborhoods. This proposal responded to the program's three critical elements: affordable, buildable and in keeping within the context of the community. The solution was based on economical conventional wood frame construction with asphalt shingles as an exterior wall finish to break up the mass in kind to the adjacent existing brick masonry dwellings. It was awarded an honorable mention and exhibited at the Chicago Athenaeum.
