Flexible Theater

Flexible Theater seeks to enable the building to hold events that require multiplex performing areas. We imagine theater as flexible container framed by two thick service walls. With different scenarios, the theater expands the main hall, providing audiences various atmosphere inside the building. Performance seats and partition walls can be moved away while back doors are open to outside. This allows the building to connect backyard with the theater, utilizing the outdoor space as an event area. We imagine approaching the theater from the north, accessible from the G subway train and the city ferry. From the north, the building is perceived as a series of frames with a saw-tooth roof. The saw-tooth orientated to the east for less light for night events.
