A client in Akron, Ohio had a cantilevered deck off the back of his home, 3 stories above ground over a rocky dry river valley. The deck's structure was starting to rot and deteriorate rending the deck unusable and dangerous. The solution was to reduce the size of the deck by approx. 1/3 and re-structure the deck into the existing home's structure. I chose to use Ipe wood for strength, ease of maintenance, and appearance. For the rails, I chose steel cable to give a more modern look to the deck and return it to being a featured, entertainment space rather than an unusable eyesore.
