I’m writing this cover letter in the hopes that you understand that I do not take applying to your firm as a trivial attempt at obtaining a job but to further my career. 

I am seeking a position that challenges my design skills and provides me with a mentor in the profession of architecture.  My ultimate goal in obtaining a position with your firm is to add to my NCARB experience and achieve my license in architecture.  I would also like to become LEED accredited in BD+C as soon as the possibility presents itself.

My immediate area no longer offers me the opportunity required to support my chosen profession of architecture and the potential to further my career.

My professional expertise is primarily in Autodesk products, AutoCAD 2004-2011, Design Review and REVIT 2013.  I have practical experience in the production of construction documents using AutoCAD.  The REVIT experience I have is limited as I have working with it at home.  I have taken it upon myself to learn and work with REVIT and use it frequently to apply techniques the software has to offer.  I have worked professionally with Bentley products of Microstation V8i, Triforma and Projectwise.  I am fluent in the software of the professional environment, MS Office suite.  I am familiar with Sketchup, Photoshop Creative Suite and Navisworks (Jetstream and Freedom).   I have limited project management experience.  I regularly attended construction meetings, compiled progress reports and reviewed project schedules via MS Project and Primevera.  I have been responsible for answering RFI’s and reviewing shop drawings for completeness and compliance with specifications.  I have written specifications using the MasterSpec format.  I have experience working in the following building types: IBC 302.1 Assembly A2, A3, A4 / Business / Factory & Industrial / High Hazard H / Mercantile / Residential / Storage / Utility and Miscellaneous

I am a team builder and natural leader; yet I am comfortable working within a team to accomplish the projects goals.  I am a professional and act accordingly with a charismatic, friendly personality that is easy to approach.  I do not look down on anyone I work with and treat all my coworkers with respect.
I’m not looking for a position to “get a foothold” and then jump to another employer.  I am loyal and the investment taken in me is rewarded with hard work and quality results. 

What I strive for in every project is to provide the best quality product that exceeds the wants of the client.  I am a driven worker with a hard work ethic.  I have never released documents that were incomplete or inaccurate.  Firms I have worked with in the past adhered to ISO 9001 standards and I have made sure these practices were followed.
