JOB TITLE: BIM Manager
JOB SUMMARY: The BIM Manager is a valuable team member that uses their knowledge of design software and technology to support the staff at Cooper Carry. This role includes advising design teams on best practices for initiating, developing, and delivering high-quality BIM models, drawings, and deliverables, as well as teaching efficient software use for staff across all roles.
The BIM Manager balances multiple efforts, including:
- Providing guidance to staff
- Administering technology/software support
- Developing and presenting training materials
- Conducting research and development efforts relating to software and design workflows
Additionally, the BIM Manager coordinates application support with the IT infrastructure group and responds to staff inquiries via our help desk portal and communications channel. This position reports directly to the Digital Practice Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guide Project Teams
- Assist Project Managers, Architects, and Designers with project startup, best practices implementation, and standards compliance for efficient project delivery.
- Collaborate with design teams to promote adoption of quality control measures that maintain modeling quality and consistency.
- Communicate workflows to staff which ease the flow of information and data through the design process from ideation through construction.
- Support Design Workflows
- Provide troubleshooting and support for design software and technology.
- Develop and maintain office master modelling content, templates, strategies, documentation standards, libraries, and standard details.
- Solicit feedback from staff concerning the effectiveness and appropriateness of the office master modelling content, strategies, processes, and
- Drive Innovation
- Research, review, and evaluate new software, tools, and workflows that can streamline business efforts.
- Collaborate with the Information Technology Team in researching, implementing, and deploying software.
- Champion Best Practices
- Train employees to effectively use design software and documentation standards.
- Communicate firmwide best practices and inform staff regarding new capabilities.
- Conduct software education workshops and assist with curriculum development.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction, or related discipline required.
- Minimum six years of professional architectural practice / design service experience with at least three years of project modelling and construction document drawing experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Revit and building information modelling techniques
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM360.
- Experience with a wide array of software / technology including Rhino, Sketchup, Dynamo, AutoCAD, Enscape, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, AR/VR, and Microsoft Office 365 / Teams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to software.
- Experience with application customization, programming, and scripting.
- Experience with sustainable building design rating systems and analysis software.
- Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills with emphasis in interpersonal, collaboration, presentation, mentoring and teaching skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities directly involving others include training, planning, coordinating, and administrative support activities. The BIM Manager carries out those responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The position provides proficient organization and process guidance to technical staff.
