New Affiliates Architecture is an award winning New York City-based architecture and design firm led by Ivi Diamantopoulou and Jaffer Kolb. We have completed a range of work, from ground up projects to interiors to exhibitions and installations for institutions including the New York's Jewish Museum, the Shed, and the Park Avenue Armory.
Alongside commissioned work, we look to initiate projects and collaborations that focus on matters of reuse within a context of material excess, particularly as it relates to current standards of practice. For this work we have collaborated with various branches of the New York City government including the Departments of Sanitation and Parks and Recreation.
Current projects in their majority include art-world commissions ranging in scale from exhibition designs to strategic and architecture planning for permanent collections and institutions in New York City and beyond. The office is also actively working on a large-scale reuse initiative that involves community engagement work, and a handful of residential projects that include ground-up building and expansions of existing buildings.
We are a small team, operating from a studio environment in lower Manhattan, and all team members participate and contribute to all phases of our work and research.
Our practice has been named "Next Progressives" by Architect Magazine and featured in design lists at the Architect's Newspaper, Wallpaper Magazine, Cultured and others. We have been recognized with an Architectural League Prize, a New York New Practices Award by the AIA, a Design Excellence Award by the Public Design Commission of NY, and a Bessie Award for Outstanding Visual Design. Most recently, our work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art’s "New York, New Publics."
