Position: Design Architect Specialist

Responsibilities:

As a Design Architect Specialist, you will be responsible for designing restaurant, retail, and office spaces that are stunning, functional, and cost-effective. You would be the lead architect on a unique 15-acre waterfront development in St. Petersburg, FL. From start to finish, you'll be involved in every aspect of the design process, working alongside construction and engineering teams. With your knowledge and expertise, you'll be able to offer value engineering options that keep the project on track and aligned with the design vision. This position is well-suited for highly engaged, creative, and technical individuals who can produce beautiful, functional, and appealing spaces.

  • Provide preliminary concepts, schematic design, design development, and construction documents for various projects, including retail building shells and tenant buildouts.
  • Provide existing conditions drawings by field verification of spaces.
  • Review and approve submitted plans from internal and external sources, including tenant space plans and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal and external construction and architectural teams.
  • Prepare site plan drawings and coordinate with civil engineering firms.
  • Analyze various design requirements and recommend possible solutions or alternate constructions.
  • Research, review, and interpret municipality zoning/code information.
  • Provide drawings and information necessary for initial cost-estimating purposes.
  • Provide value engineering options while maintaining design intent and code requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum seven years experience working as a licensed architect with previous experience designing restaurant, retail, and/or office spaces.
  • Experience with commercial projects.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining work quality.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, great attention to detail, and highly organized.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, and excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
