POSITION PROFILE

Palisociety is currently seeking a very talented Director of Architectural Design to join our team.  The ideal candidate must have hospitality design experience and be proficient in CAD.  As Director of Architectural Design, you will lead a growing team of design project managers in the production of relevant documentation to execute design at a high level.  The position entails both hands on creation of full ID drawing sets with specifications as well as management of design staff members.  Technical skills, passion, speed & efficiency, diligent attention to detail, and elevated taste level are a must.

THE TASK AT HAND:

  • Lead in-house design project management team to include all interior architectural design creation for Company projects
  • Oversee and manage the design and sourcing of all interiors-related design for Company projects
  • Create interior design construction documentation, schedules, and specifications, as applicable
  • Coordinate materials sourcing and finish specification selection as appropriate
  • Manage interior design work flows and deliverable schedules and ensure diligent execution of timelines
  • Assist with the creation of presentation materials, design concept & inspirational boards as needed
  • Management of the consultant and contractor team throughout the duration of the project
  • Review and approve design documents issued by architects, M,E,P, and structural engineers, design consultants and other vendors as applicable
  • Provide construction administration on active construction and renovation projects including site visits as applicable
  • Hire and manage additional design related staff and project managers as needed
  • Mentor design project managers and oversee quality control of work output
  • Liaise and collaborate with fellow design team directors and members to assure coordination and preparation of designs consistently remain at a high accuracy level
  • Work with operations department heads to ensure functions in design operate well and also align with departmental sales & marketing so strategies are aligned with the overall hotel plan
  • Track quality assurance of design and project execution to meet quality objectives, project constraints, and Company brand standards
  • Oversee final punch list and final turnover program
  • Assist with analysis of projected design team time needed, scopes of work, and deliverable schedules on new projects
  • Perform other design related duties and special projects as assigned

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience leading and managing multiple projects
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle, from concepting through occupancy and operations
  • Proven fiscal budgeting, accountability, and responsibility
  • Excellent written, verbal and management communication skills, including proven leadership, organization, and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other co-workers, departments, and business units with an engaged and innovative spirit
  • Be adaptable to a dynamic project portfolio and always motivated to generate forward thinking results
  • Ability to manage challenging situations, tasks and timelines with tact, grace, and style while bringing new concepts and ideas to the team
  • 8+ years of related experience with Interior Design/Architecture education background, including demonstrated success as a project manager on various hospitality and/or brand design projects
  • Strong AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite experience
  • Ability to travel for project related purposes and work onsite during ongoing projects as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time up to four (4) hours.
