CAD Drafter II

Vermont Stone Art is seeking to hire a CAD Drafter II, or higher, to develop Shop Drawings for our Dimensional stone granite and limestone projects. Shop Drawings are detailed plans that translate the design intent and provide the information necessary to manufacture, fabricate, assemble and install all the components we supply. CAD Drafters are required to interact professionally with designers, installers, manufacturers, fabricators, and the VSA team to achieve the best product and service possible. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • You’ll be using software such AutoCAD to create and develop 2D and 3D Drawings and CAD Models. 3D Modeling using Inventor or Revit, or equal is beneficial. 

  • Reviewing VSA’s proposals and matching drafting efforts to the proposal or pointing out discrepancies. 

  • Interpreting and translating the architect's design and detail appropriately for manufacturing and fabrication. 

  • Identify conflicts and resolve by working with designers, installers, to ensure the profit fit during installation and the elimination of rework. 

  • Follow Vermont Stone Art’s CAD standards for all views, details, annotations, etc. 

  • Creating setting drawings to support and assist on site installation.  

  • Visiting job sites to work through issues with the team, measuring field conditions and creating job site templates as required.  

  • Liaising between VSA’s project management team, installer, architect, etc. 

  • Developing highly detailed fabrication drawings and connection details for each piece required. 

  • Making Bill of Materials to create parts list, gross and net material requirements, etc. 

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, construction documents, etc, and using Procure, or equal, as required. 

  • Conducting quantity surveys/takeoffs and preparing detailed sketches for estimating purposes.  

  • Managing the drawings and storage database and creating, modifying and documenting latest version of drawings. 

 

Requirements 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering, architecture or relevant field. 

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 

  • Expert level CAD skills as well as reading and interpreting Construction Documents. 

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. 

  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks. 

  • Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar products. 

  • Varied experiences with CAD software such as Rhino, SolidWorks, etc. Is beneficial. 

  • Attention to detail is a must. 

Working on several different projects at any given time. 

  • Being a team player to support and contribute to our culture and unique business is key. 

  • Experience with manufacturing and fabrication. 

  • Be able to manage several projects at the same time.
