Peninsula based Residential Design and Build Firm focusing on the custom creation of residential homes, remodels and additions in the San Francisco Bay Area.
We are seeking motivated individuals with 2-5 years of professional experience who are excited by the prospect of working on Residential Projects with an experienced team of professionals. The Architectural Designer will work on all project phases from schematic through design development and construction documents. The selected applicant will collaborate with the Staff and clients, gaining exposure to the principles of design, programmatic considerations, zoning analysis, and codes. This is a job for someone who enjoys both working collaborately and also has the ability to take responsibility and solve problems independently with a conscientious attention to detail.
As we are a true 'Design-Build' firm, this position requires that the applicant will work both from our office as well as be able to visit the various jobsites and vendors as needed. This position is not for anyone seeking to work remotely at this time.
Responsibilities
Site Surveys: Survey existing structures, site conditions and prepare as-built plans, elevations etc. of subject property.
Schematic Design: Generate preliminary floor plans for client based on job scope, budget and design direction given by Principal.
Develop elevations and 3D renderings for client consideration in compliance with zoning code and Planning Department requirements.
Prepare and submit all required drawings and paperwork for planning review.
Produce presentation boards for neighbor meetings as well as any mailing material such as fliers required by the planning department for neighbor noticing of the project.
Work with the city, the principal and the client during the planning review process in order to address Planning Commission concerns and get the project approved.
Complete construction drawings compliant with type V-B building codes for building permit application, i.e. existing and proposed site, roof, and floor plans, exterior elevations, electrical and reflected ceiling plans, window and door schedules, interior elevations, architectural details, etc.
Coordinate with consultants during design and construction as needed, i.e. structural, civil, and soil engineers, Title 24 Energy analysis, arborist, PG&E, asbestos testing etc.
Prepare all accompanying documentation required for permit submittal, i.e. Encroachment permits, recycling plans, green building code checklist, etc.
Address any comments received from the city during plan check and revise drawings accordingly.
During construction, create 3D drawings and renderings to assist the client with visualizing space and materials.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field.
2 + years of combined experience working as a draft's person.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools: Word, Office, Excel, Outlook.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Rendering skills are preferred.
Experience in construction documents, permitting, and submittals is preferred.
Knowledge of residential building codes and regulations is preferred.
Resourceful in identifying applicable building systems, constructability, code compliance, and detailing.
Ability to understand client needs and maintain positive client relationships.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines.
Effective English communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
