Future Firm is an architecture and design research office. We are architects for changemakers. Founded in 2015, the architecture practice works on with individuals and organizations catalyzing transformation in their communities and industries, through commercial, arts and culture, and non-profit facility projects. We focus on using design to synthesize the aims and efforts of multiple stakeholders and creating flexible space for diverse needs.
Future Firm is seeking a licensed Project Architect with 5+ years of experience to join our practice. Project Architect will be responsible for project delivery, leading the design vision and documentation. Project Architect will lead collaborations within the firm with staff designers; communicate with clients and other project stakeholders; and coordinate with project consultants. Experience across all phases of design, including construction phase experience, is required. Licensure in a US state is preferred; licensure in progress is acceptable. Experience in education, arts and culture, or with non-profit facility projects is a plus.
As part of a design-focused and collaborative practice, we are seeking a candidate who is experienced, independent, self-motivated, and who also has strong communication skills and a collaborative approach. Additionally, this role requires the ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, prioritizing work, and collaborating with diverse teams.

Requirements
5+ years of experience including project management and construction administration
Licensure or licensure in progress
Applicants should be proficient in Revit
Strong understanding of building systems
Excellent communication skills, including an ability to build rapport with clients, contractors, staff and other collaborators.
Project coordination/management experience
Experience and knowledge of Chicago Building Code and permitting process a plus
A five-year bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Architecture
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Responsibilities
Maintain an organized workflow, manage project schedule, and collaborate with Future Firm team members as well as consultants and contractors
Construction drawing set management and coordination, with a focus on translating design direction into construction documents and managing the permitting process
Produce technical documents including drawing, as well as marking up, to help the team produce documents
