Responsibilities

  • Design: Coordinates project design, develops creative-design concepts for projects, and prepares presentation and design drawings. Coordinates, and works collaboratively, with project team to develop design from ideation through documentation. Contributes to, and helps to lead, internal project design charrettes and discussions. Researches materials, systems, and finishes, and assists in their selection.
  • Project Execution: Works on multiple small to midsize projects, assisting all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure efficient and effective execution. Works directly and in support of Project Architect, Project Manager, or Architect of Record. Receives and seeks out technical guidance and supervisory approval. Assists Project Architect/Manager in the development and coordination of project drawings and specifications for bidding and construction. Provides input to the design and construction schedule. Oversees project team adherence to firmwide project delivery processes and standards. May be assigned limited Project Manager responsibilities depending on project scope and scale.
  • Team Leadership: Promotes effective team communication and skillfully works alongside internal and external collaborators. Assists in managing and organizing the architectural team to execute the work in an orderly, timely, and coordinated manner. Mentors junior design staff.
  • Quality Control and Technical Leadership: Ensures that project documentation meets Practice's firm-wide and specific Client standards, as well as code and agency compliance.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external collaborators. Participates in industry and professional events.
  • Firm Culture Advocate: Actively promotes Practice's mission and values of Co-Creation, Inclusive Impact, Holistic Sustainability, Joy, Listening, and Optimism.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of postgraduate professional experience.
  • Professional degree in architecture (MArch or BArch).
  • Excellent design skills, and the ability to translate concepts into architectural propositions.
  • Ability to iterate through various design solutions.
  • Knowledge of contemporary architectural design and ideas.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and initiative in finding solutions.
  • Experience in the full range of architectural services (Concept Design – Construction Administration).
  • Excellent interpersonal and written skills.
  • Ability to, and experience in, mentoring junior designers.
  • Experience in managing consultants.
  • Experience in presenting to clients.
  • Pursuing professional licensure (NCARB - Architectural Experience Program).
  • DSA, or experience in affordable housing, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with Revit, Adobe Suite, Rhino, TwinMotion, Lumion, digital fabrication, Microsoft Office, etc.
