ONE Architecture & Urbanism is seeking an Architect and Urban Designer with a minimum of five years of professional experience. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and nimble architect who is excited about design at all scales and is passionate about climate action and sustainability.

ONE Architecture & Urbanism is an internationally renowned planning, urban design, and architecture practice specializing in large-scale climate adaptation planning, resilient infrastructure design, and public architecture. Based in New York City and Amsterdam, ONE’s work spans multiple cities and regions across the United States, the Netherlands, Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean. This candidate would be joining the Architecture & Urban Design team in New York City where ONE is currently working on several coastal resilience projects in Manhattan, including the FiDi-Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan and East Side Coastal Resiliency.

We are looking for someone who

• Is passionate about urban design and the public realm.
• Has construction administration and project management experience (public/government projects a plus)
• Has experience in pre-design tasks including zoning analysis, mass/bulk analysis, etc.
• Is interested in using images to tell a story, explain ideas, and build consensus.  
• Is interested in low-carbon construction practices and sustainable, nature-inclusive design
• Is a team player and strong communicator who will work with senior and intermediate team members to develop design alternatives, visual representations, and detailed documentation.
• Has strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.

Minimum Requirements

• Accredited degree in architecture.
• 5+ years of professional experience in architecture and/or urban design.
• Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
• Fluency in Autocad, Rhino, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity with NYC zoning and building codes.
• Professional experience working on renderings and other client-facing visualizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• LEED, WEDG, and/or ENVISION certified.
• Knowledge of Revit, ArcGIS, Grasshopper.
• Experience in building models.

Pay & Benefits: The expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 to $90,000 based on ability and relevant work experience. Benefits are offered immediately from the commencement of employment: including medical, dental, and vision programs; 401(k) plan; commuter benefits; paid holidays including one week of office closure in December and flexible PTO.
