Job Title: Project Architect

Supervisor: Director of Design

Summary: Hatchet Design Build is seeking an experienced Project Architect to lead a variety of small to medium scale residential projects in NYC and Upstate NY. 

We are a multidisciplinary architecture and construction company with 15 years of experience constructing high-end residential and cultural projects in New York City. The architectural team provides full design services specializing in high end residential design. In addition to the tasks of an architect, candidates will also have the opportunity to work closely with the construction, pre-construction and millwork divisions to deliver projects that are on budget, achieve quality construction and meet the highest design aspirations that our clients expect. The team at Hatchet Design Build is fun, energetic and collaborative. We are seeking someone with a work hard, play hard mentality. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Manage the project team in the development of design through drawings and client presentations.
  • Prepare and file construction documents.
  • Coordinate with consultants and building systems.
  • Manage all projects during construction administration.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive experience filing projects with NYC LPC and DOB with an understanding of how these processes fit with schedule and consultant onboarding.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the service of client management, design presentations and communicating project milestones and objectives. 
  • Effective organizational skills including management of project budgets and schedules. 
  • Proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and/or Vector works.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of building systems and experience coordinating consultants. 
  • Knowledge of NYC Zoning and Building Codes, Landmarks Preservation, Accessibility and Energy Code requirements.

Education:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in all phases of architectural design, documentation, construction administration, and client management.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture.

Compensation: 90k -120k based on level of experience.
