Ktisma Studio is an intimate studio that designs landscapes, architecture, & interiors. We are based in both Ojai, California and Brooklyn, NY. The landscape work focuses on private gardens for homes at a variety of scales but most commonly larger acreages. The design ethos is one in which formalism is used to organize the design and a diverse mix of native and ornamental plantings add wildness, richness, and seasonal interest.

Ktisma Studio is looking for a qualified landscape designer to join our team as a project manager and work on a breadth of exciting residential projects throughout the eastern seaboard and California. The ideal candidate:

  • Is a sensitive and thoughtful designer able to clearly identify the needs of a project and propose elegant solutions that work functionally, formally and aesthetically
  • Is experienced in all phases of design, documentation and construction working with a rigorous design process and a keen intuition for thoughtful and unique landscapes
  • Has a rich understanding of both formal garden design and natural American landscapes.
  • Has fluent knowledge of the northeastern climate and plant species. Familiarity with California’s climate and plant species a plus.
  • Is a patient and clear communicator with teammates, clients, contractors, and consultants.

This is a full-time position that can be worked semi-remote with weekly in-person time spent in our Brooklyn or Ojai studios. We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the design principal to lead landscape architecture projects from Masterplan to construction administration including management of sub-consultants
  • Work independently to create design options for review with the design principal and other team members.
  • Communicate clearly with teammates, clients, contractors, fabricators and other vendors
  • Keep projects well organized through agendas, meeting minutes, design documents, and physical samples
  • Sourcing and specifying landscape furniture, fabrics and lighting
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Adobe Suite
  • Rhino
  • Hand sketching
  • Well organized, strong leadership and communication skills
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture or architecture
  • Currently authorized to work in the US without the need for a visa
  • Have a valid driver’s license
