LMA is looking for a creative and motivated student to join our team as a summer intern. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects as a fully collaborative member of the team, from initial design studies to construction documentation.

What do we do?

  • LMA focuses on high-performance workplace and upcycling of existing buildings to bring new purpose and life back into old spaces in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. We are also designing a number of residential, retail and hospitality projects in California desert communities.

  • We are committed to the advancement of adobe and earthen masonry construction where it is suitable and work hand in hand with clients and consultants to ensure successful outcomes.

  • We have great clients and have designed and built ambitious and high-performance workplaces for companies such as Warner Brothers, Apple and Beats by Dre, along with well-known entertainment, production, retail, hospitality and educational companies.

  • More than most firms, we provide project leadership and encourage collaboration. We frequently work hand in hand with graphic designers, interiors specialists, fabricators and other architects, many of whom are considered leaders in their respective fields.

Who are you?

  • A student currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Architecture, preferably someone who has completed a third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program.

  • Able to work both in-office and virtually.

  • Experience using Revit and Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Experience with 3-D computer rendering skills is a plus.

  • A self-starter who is collegial, diligent, and eager to learn about the day-to-day realities of a career in architecture.

  • Someone with great communication skills who is comfortable sharing ideas and asking questions. Readers and thinkers preferred.

  • Someone who takes their work but not themselves seriously, loves dogs, and would enjoy a small-office culture in DTLA.

Interested in applying?

  • Email your resume and portfolio to hr@lma.la and we’ll be in touch. Portfolios should be one PDF attachment, 10-20 pages, and not exceeding 10MB.

  • Expected compensation is $24 -$30 / hour depending on experience.
