About Assembly OSM

Assembly is on a mission to make urban growth scalable and sustainable. Our unique technology enables us to design and deliver high-rise buildings quickly, at less cost, and more efficiently than ever before. Assembly buildings are custom, imaginative, green, and peerless in quality—all while creating market-driven affordability and bringing design excellence to more and more communities. As a rapidly growing team, we’re on the lookout for passionate individuals ready to make an impact. If our mission resonates with you, we invite you to apply.

Assembly OSM seeks a highly organized, detail oriented, technical facade engineer to contribute their expertise to our dynamic team.  This role entails meticulous detailing of facades, conducting thorough analyses, researching materials and systems, and collaborating closely with project teams. We value individuals who are conscientious, creative, detail-oriented, and maintain a high level of professionalism.  As an integral part of Assembly OSM, a member of our Product Design & Engineering team, you will play a key role in designing and engineering prefabricated wall assembly systems for large-scale residential projects in the mid to high rise genre, ensuring the highest standards of performance and efficiency.  We like passive house standards, just saying.

You will:

  • Join a diverse team of architects, manufacturing engineers, and industrial designers responsible for the design, development, and product validation of Assembly's enclosure systems; inclusive of the building finish envelope, waterproofing of modular units, and developing the logistics through the enclosure product life cycle

  • Actively contribute to the engineering and detailing of facade systems, leveraging your technical expertise to optimize performance and efficiency.

  • Prepare comprehensive facade detailing in both 2D and 3D formats for effective client communication.

  • Utilize specialized software to analyze facade performance, including loading, thermal analysis, condensation risk, and geometry.

  • Conduct materials and systems research to determine project suitability.

  • Interpret building codes, project/design/construction specifications, and ensure compliance.

  • Assist in construction admin tasks, such as responding to RFIs.

  • Oversee design reviews, submittal and shop drawing reviews, and periodic site inspections.

  • Lead testing of exterior envelope systems, both in field and laboratory settings.

  • Review site reports and maintain logs of ongoing project issues.

  • Attend relevant conferences and industry events to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies.

  • Oversee the development of facade systems as they pertain to projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements and standards.

  • Develop facade systems as standalone entities, independent from specific projects, with a focus on innovation and efficiency.

You are:

  • A dynamic leader with a proven track record of success in leading facade engineering teams and driving innovation.

  • A hands-on engineer with a passion for detail and a deep understanding of facade design and engineering principles.

  • Knowledgeable about building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD), with expertise in AutoCAD 2D (essential) and 3D.

  • Proficient in commercially available 3D structural modeling software such as RISA 3D, STAAD, ETAB, RAM, and SAFE.

  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration with team members and clients.

  • Results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Experienced in working on LEED or sustainable building projects.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in facade engineering, with a focus on prefabricated wall assembly systems.

  • 2 to 7 years of experience in the design and detailing of facades in commercial projects.

  • A Professional Engineering license in New York State or New Jersey, or have the ability to obtain licensing within a reasonable timeframe. (preferred)
