Farewell Architects LLC is an award-winning architectural firm, recognized nationally for work in architecture, planning, and interiors. An outgrowth of the Firm Farewell Mills and Gatsch Architects, the Firm has been in operation since 2011.

The firm’s areas of expertise include independent schools, colleges and universities, libraries, theatres and other cultural institutions, municipal buildings, courthouses, religious structures, and private residences.

Our projects have been widely published, and a monograph entitled Stagings, documenting the first 15 years of the predecessor firm Farewell Mills Gatsch Architects, LLC, was published by l’Arca Edizioni. The new Firm has continued the emphasis on institutional work with an added environmental focus.  Recent college and University projects including new buildings at Fairleigh Dickenson University, New Brunswick Theological Seminary, Rutgers University have been LEED certified or designed to LEED standards. We believe that sustainable design is good design. Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association achieving LEED platinum and the Willow School achieving the Living Building Challenge are examples of this pursuit.

Other recent projects include an assembly space addition to the Cap and Gown Eating Club at Princeton University, office and hospitality buildings at Tenacre Foundation in Princeton, new educational buildings for the Princeton Charter school and other area charter schools.

Farewell Architects LLC work is grounded in the conviction that architecture is a community expression, that innovative new places have the capability to intensify, heighten, and make memorable the rituals of use and occupation. Our work, therefore, has been centered on understanding the occupants’ needs and experience, and translating that accommodation into new and expressive designs.
