OCA is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Design Architect with 12+ years of experience leading client groups and design teams from programming, concept, design, and post-occupancy of design solutions. The Senior Design Architect will serve as a lead designer and set the design direction for key projects across OCA. This position is a hands-on, in-office position requiring overseeing daily activities on assigned Projects.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the design activities for key projects within OCA
Manages and mentors junior staff to ensure clear and consistent direction with regard to goals and objectives, timelines, and execution for assigned projects
Oversees design review process to ensure that designs meet overall goals and objectives for projects, provide maximum value for dollars budgeted, and meet the functional needs of the client and design teams
Reviews design changes to ensure projects remain within budget
Oversees design presentations and monitors design development through a collaborative, integrative design process
Participates in business development activities as required
Participates in Presentations
Identifies educational opportunities, i.e., seminars and workshops, to learn and share up-to-date information with junior staff
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor or master’s degree in Architecture or a related field
Registered Licensed Architect in the State of New Jersey, New York or working towards licensure
12+ years of experience in high-quality design projects of Multifamily, Public, Commercial and Mixed-Use buildings
Must possess a thorough knowledge of architecture practice, with an emphasis on design
Must understand building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering disciplines, and building costs/codes to help inform the design.
Knowledge of National, State and Local Building Codes
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and Bluebeam
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
LEED accreditation is a plus but not required
Self-motivated, organized, and flexible
Strong design sensibility
Strong communication and presentation abilities
Willingness to learn and take directions from senior staff
Must be authorized to work in the U.S without visa restrictions
